Tennis Forehand and Approach Shots Drill
Learn to move laterally for the inside-out forehand and then make an approach shot.
You can place a ring or a cone as a marker and perform the drill as shown. Do a shadow drill with 3 inside-out forehand strokes first, after the 3rd stroke move forward and make a shadow approach shot. Make sure to load on the outside leg and follow through with your core and shoulders, giving enough kinetic force on your contact point.
You can then move on to doing the drill with balls, 3 balls on the inside-out stroke and one on the approach. Practice the drill till the player gets a good rhythm on their feet and understands the concept of “load and release” into a shot.
